Export models and animations to the Web without limiting creative choices.

Hypercosm, a creator of 3D interactive simulation technology for remote and portable training, education and design visualization, has released the Hypercosm Teleporter, a software tool for efficiently exporting 3D models and animations from 3ds max (Discreet 3D Studio Max) into Hypercosm ultracompact Web-deployable applets.

Teleporter's high-fidelity export capabilities let users export models and animations to the Web without placing limits on their creative choices. "[M]any other technologies limit you to strictly rigid body animations," said Hypercosm Technology Manager Abe Megahed in the announcement of Teleporter's release. "With Hypercosm Teleporter, the true high-level description of the model is retained, which means that you can share your creations without bending over backwards to accommodate the limitations of your tools."

"Hypercosm's Web-based simulation technology allows you to create true Web-based simulations—not just 3D paperweights that you can spin around," continued Megahed. "Our unique approach to encoding 3D scenes results in lower file sizes and allows you to create detailed simulations that in many cases are only a few tens to hundreds of kilobytes in size. This lets you use 3D that can actually be deployed to where people need the information the most."

Hypercosm Teleporter features:

  • low file size for Web-ready 3ds max models;

  • direct publishing to Web pages with a just a few clicks;

  • content viewing with free Hypercosm Player software;

  • built-in peer-to-peer collaborative viewing mode; and

  • high fidelity—preserving animation, object hierarchy, texture mapping, modifier stack and modifiers, etc.

    Hypercosm will release Hypercosm Studio later in 2005. Studio is a developers' kit for scripting an unlimited set of behaviors, input and output triggers, and interactivity into exported applets. It is currently available for market partners and through Hypercosm's services division.
