Blog Post: Adobe has to release CS3 by April 2007 in order to adhere to their 18-24 month development cycle.

Forbes writer Danit Lidor interviewed Adobe CEO Bruce Chizen about the state of the world's fifth largest software company on Friday. Adobe, before its acquisition of Macromedia last year, was long known as a powerful but stodgy company focused on the print marketplace. Acquiring Macromedia is supposed to bring Adobe into the Web publishing future. Unfortunately, the company has lost about $50 million in net income, according to the Forbes article.

Adobe's fortunes certainly weren't helped by Apple, which announced last year that they were switching to Intel processors. Consequently all Mac software developers, including Adobe, must rework their code into Universal Binary. Publish.com reported in February that Adobe was having problems developing CS3. Adobe has to release CS3 by April 2007 in order to adhere to their 18-24 month development cycle. CS2 launched April 2005.
