Adobe Hedges its Bets on GoLive and Freehand Support

Blog Post: Where's the love? Adobe execs said recently that GoLive and Freehand may be put out to pasture.

So there was a report out on MacNation that said Adobe would soon drop support for GoLive and Freehand. MacNN then referenced that report with this article. Macnews.de said  that Freehand will remain a standalone product and that the company has scheduled a maintenance release of the product for later this year.

A bit confused, I went to Adobe and got their official response:
Adobe plans to continue to support GoLive and Freehand and develop these products based on our customer's needs. Clearly Dreamweaver and Illustrator are market leading when it comes to web design/development and vector graphics/illustration. Customers should expect Adobe to concentrate our development efforts around these two products - with regards to future innovation and Creative Suite integration.
So it looks like Adobe isn't disavowing GoLive and Freehand, but they're clearly reticent to commit long-term resources. I doubt "maintenance release" means UB support.

Robyn Weissman wrote an article for Publish.com last year in which she spoke to developers and designers about Freehand's prospects. And Corel, of course, was eager to skim customers away from Freehand when the Adobe merger was announced.

As for GoLive, I'd just as soon see that software dissapear. It's awful.
