The Windows-only package includes After Effects 7.0, Premiere Pro 2.0, Audition 2.0, Encore 2.0 and the latest versions of Photoshop CS2 and Illustrator CS2.

Adobe announced Tuesday the release of Adobe Production Studio, a package of Adobe's post-production video and DVD-editing software tools.

Adobe Production Studio contains Adobe After Effects 7.0, Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0, Adobe Audition 2.0, Adobe Encore 2.0 and the latest versions of Adobe Photoshop CS2 and Adobe Illustrator CS2.

The package is available for Windows XP only, although After Effects can be purchased separately for the Macintosh.

An Adobe spokesperson could not comment on whether Adobe planned to release Macintosh versions of the software

"If the demand exists on the Macintosh for a product, then we'll certainly consider it," said Steve Kilisky, senior product manager for After Effects.

Kilinsky noted that Adobe has been receiving substantial requests to port Adobe Premier Pro to the Mac.

Adobe Production Studio is the company's first major non-beta software release since the $3.4 billion acquisition of Macromedia.

Unique to the package is Adobe Dynamic Link, which allows users to move After Effects compositions directly into Adobe Premiere Pro and Encore DVD without having to render them first.

Also new is the Flash Video (FLV) export functionality in After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro.

Other workflow features include a new unified interface; the ability to capture footage using Adobe Premiere Pro from within After Effects; and Adobe Bridge, a file browser that can be launched independently or accessed from any Production Studio component.

Adobe Production Studio also features a unified interface across applications.

Adobe Production Studio for Microsoft Windows XP is available as both a stand-alone product and as part of the Adobe Video Bundle. Adobe Video Bundle includes Macromedia Flash 8.

Adobe Production Studio requires a 1.4GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor for digital video (DV), or a 3.4GHz Pentium 4 processor for high-definition video (HDV). The package requires Windows XP with Service Pack 2 and 512MB of RAM. 1GB of RAM is required for running multiple applications and when using Adobe Dynamic Link. 2GB of RAM is required for HDV and DV. Other product requirements can be viewed here.

More information about Adobe Production Studio is available on Adobe's Web site.
