The growing partnership will initially offer discounted pricing on the Norton Internet Security Suite when users download Adobe Reader.Adobe Systems announced March 2 a partnership with
Symantec to offer a free trial and the option of special pricing for the Norton Internet Security 2006 suite to users who are downloading the latest version of Adobe Reader.
"This joint effort is the first step in a growing relationship with Symantec," said Kurt Garbe, vice president of Platform, Adobe Systems.
"Combining Adobe's broad reach with Symantec's award-winning PC security software will help make the Internet a safer place for people to access and engage with the information and services they need."
Both Adobe and Symantec enjoy wide distribution of their software. Adobe Reader has been downloaded over 500 million times, according to the company.
Adobe's Flash Player, acquired in the merger with Macromedia, is estimated to be present on about 98 percent of computers.
Both Adobe Reader and Flash Player are available as free downloads.
Norton Internet Security 2006 combines the latest versions of Norton AntiVirus, which includes anti-spyware capabilities, Norton Personal Firewall, Norton Privacy Control, Norton Parental Control and Norton AntiSpam. Norton Internet Security Site is regularly priced at $69.99.
