Adobe CEO Bruce Chizen says development of Mactel Photoshop, Creative Suite and Acrobat is proceeding apace, according to IDG.A version of Adobe's Photoshop that runs on both PowerPC-based and Intel-based Macs will not be available until Spring 2007, the company's CEO said at a news conference in Tokyo on April 21, according to the IDG news service.

With the exception of the beta software Lightroom, none of Adobe's apps are available on both platforms, a code base Adobe refers to as UB (universal binary).
Adobe released the latest version of Photoshop Elements, Version 4.0, in February, but it was not created in UB because of time constraints, Adobe said at the time.
Adobe released a public FAQ, here in PDF form, earlier in 2006, presenting its progress and plans for UB versions of its professional graphics applications.
The statement said the company will not produce UB versions of its products, including Creative Suite and the former Macromedia Studio suites, until the "next generation" of products. Creative Suite 2 was released in April 2005.
Adobe's FAQ said holding off from Intel compatibility until its next major release cycle was the "most effective" way to incorporate this major change.
Chizen also reiterated that Apple's Boot Camp, beta software that allows Mactel computers to run Windows and Mac OS X, would not affect Adobe's development plans.
