Clearing up color tool confusion within GoLive

These tips from Adobe will help users choose the best color tool for the design job at hand.

In a muddle about when to use which color tools in GoLive? Here's a quick look at three of the main tools for working with colors in GoLive: the Colors tab, the Color palette and the Swatches palette. While each of these tools enables you to apply color to page backgrounds, text or objects on a page, each also has other uses.

* The Colors tab. The Colors tab is the place for you to keep "tabs" on the colors in your site. Use the Colors tab when you want to review information about site colors either individually or in groups. For each color, the Colors tab lists the name that you assign it, the HTML color name and value, whether the color is Web safe or not, and whether the color has been used on a page in the site.

* The Color palette. Think of the Color palette just like you would an artist's palette: use it when you want to mix, sample and edit colors. The Color palette lets you work with colors in CMYK, RGB, HSV, HSB and grayscale formats. When you're done, you can add these colors to the site colors by dragging them to the Colors tab, or add them as a custom swatch to the Swatches palette.

* The Swatches palette. The Swatches palette is a visual reference catalog of colors and color sets. Use the Swatches palette when you want to access predefined sets of colors, site colors, recently used colors and custom colors you've added from the Color palette.
