Corel's latest package contains CorelDraw X3, Corel Photo-Paint X3, Pixmantec RawShooter Essential, CorelCapture X3 and CorelDraw Handbook.Corel Corporation announced Tuesday the newest version of its graphics suite, CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X3, which will be available in February.
The new suite, which encompasses CorelDraw X3, Corel Photo-Paint X3, Pixmantec RawShooter Essential, CorelCapture X3 and CorelDraw Handbook, also includes 10,000 clip art and digital images, 1,000 OpenType fonts, 100 templates, as well as tutorials by lynda.com as it did in Version 12.
Notable among the 40 new tools included in this version is PowerTRACE, which allows users to quickly convert bitmaps into editable vector graphics.
Other new features include the Enhanced Interactive Contour tool, which aims to make it easier to optimize curve results; Hints docker, which provides context-sensitive information on the selected tool; and the enhanced interactive Fit Text to Path with an improved user interface.
Graphics Suite X3 is aimed at creative and design professionals as well as small business owners with occasional design needs.
Although Corel executives claim that they are not superstitious, they have named this 13th version of the design "suite X3" in lieu of the number.
The CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X3 suite retains its $399 price for new users and $179 to upgrade, or half the price Adobe's Creative Suite.
The Ottawa, Canada-based software company, owned by Vector Capitol Group, also released Tuesday WordPerfect Office X3.
