Two companies target text and printing workflow solutions for Adobe InDesign CS2, while H&M Systems Software integrates for e-commerce, Veer announces a photo-editing workflow solution, and Entourage Arts, a Non-Photorealistic Renderings vendor, adds to its digitized image collection.

  • StudioLine Photo 2 Line Shoots for E-Commerce Integration

On Tuesday, Germany-based H&M Systems Software Inc. announced alliances that will integrate its StudioLine Photo 2 digital imaging software with SmileShot.com, EveryoneSmile.com and SimplePhoto.

The alliances will benefit photographers by enabling them to edit and archive their images in StudioLine Photo 2 and then sell them online using either firm's Web services, H&M said.

The StudioLine Photo 2 plug-ins can be downloaded free of charge from the StudioLine Web site or the Web site of SimplePhoto.

  • Veer Announces Shuttleboard

On Tuesday, New York-based Veer Inc. announced the addition to its lineup of Shuttleboard, an interactive Web-based digital lightbox allowing photography and image professionals to view, sort and manipulate images prior to purchasing them.

One of the unique benefits to creative professionals of using Shuttleboard is the ability the program gives them to creatively lay out both images (including resizing, moving and crop features) and typeface fonts on a work area prior to purchase.

In addition, the prepurchase lightbox layouts can also be e-mailed, annotated and shared by team members or clients who are registered on the Veer site.

Registered users on the Veer Web site can choose from standard mode or Shuttleboard mode on every lightbox at Veer.com.

A tutorial on Shuttleboard and its features can be found here.

  • Teacup Software Announces Time-Saving Text Plug-In

New York-based Teacup Software Inc. released TypeFitter 1.0, a new multifunctional plug-in that aims to speed the process of fitting justified text.

The plug-in fits type by adjusting settings in InDesign's justification algorithms, and is compatibile with InDesign and InCopy CS and CS-2.

According to the company, users can tighten, loosen or restore text by using a simple palette. The plug-in also enables users to save settings in type-fit styles and incorporate those from previous documents into current documents.

"The TypeFitter plug-in is a straightforward solution to the time-consuming process of fitting justified text," said Teacup's president, Lawrence Horwitz.

The plug-in retails for $59.95 and the tool is available for purchase at the company Web site.

  • XChange International Offers Two New Print Solutions

On Monday, London-based XChange International announced the release of MadeToPrint for InDesign CS2 and MadeToPrint XT Auto for Quark QPS.

MadeToPrint for InDesign CS2 is a plug-in for controlling print output as well as enabling creation of PDF, PostScript and EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) files.

The plug-in gives users the ability to process multiple print jobs, process single pages, create target directories automatically and save EPS output settings as jobs, according to the company release.

MadeToPrint XT for QPS 3 uses QPS queries to enable document processing, and the XTension automatically checks files out of the editorial workflow system and places them back in after print output.

Additionally, the print solution enables users to print a document, create an EPS file, and generate a low- and high-resolution PDF in one step.

MadeToPrint XT gives users the ability, for any print job or for multiple print jobs, to specify the network printer and define specific device settings, page setup configuration and print dialogue settings for document printing, according to the company.

Both offerings are available for purchase through the XChange International Web site.

Entourage Arts Releases Wang Wang Collection

Canada-based Entourage Arts on Tuesday announced the availability of the Wang Wang Collection of NPRs (Non-Photorealistic Renderings) for creative professionals and architectural designers.

The collections contain digitized hand-painted people, trees, plants and skies published in PNG (Portable Network Graphics) file format.

The four collections announced included Trees & Plants Volume 1 as well as a rerelease of NPR People Volume 1 and NPR Trees and Plants Volume 1. The company said it was releasing a Mini Pack of three watercolor skies as well.

The full release can be found here.

The latest additions are available on the company's Web site.
