Lebor Software Releases FontCatalog 1.6
This week Lebor Software released FontCatalog 1.6, a type reference tool updated with 15 additional category and style definitions.
Font Catalog 1.6, an application designed to identify typefaces, can also be used as a font manager to activate and view uninstalled fonts.
The application is compatible with Mac OS X and comes with over 4,600 font definitions in its database, according to the news release.

FastStone Soft Updates Image Viewer
FastStone Soft has released FastStone Image Viewer 2.17 Beta, an image browser and editor with an improved built-in Screen Capture function and added editing effects and features.
The newly updated image viewer also features improvements to the Advanced Option function, giving users the ability to compare the original and edited images prior to saving.
In addition, the beta release addresses a bug fix in animated GIF rendering, according to the announcement.
The viewing application is priced at $29 and is compatible with all Windows based operating systems.

Canada Type Augments Font Gallery
Toronto-based Canada Type has released Torquemada, a new calligraphic font collection designed by American calligrapher Phillip Bouwsma.
The new font collection is available through the Canada Type Web site.
The latest collection of 6 distinct fonts can be purchased for $19.95.
The collection can be downloaded from the MyFonts site.
Pantone Releases New Color Guide
Carlstadt, N.J.-based Pantone Inc. has announced the release of its redesigned edition of "PANTONE Essentials," the company's print and publishing color reference guide.
Pantone has also released an updated PANTONE 4-color process guide, which features over 3,000 chromatically arranged CMYK color combinations for improved color reproduction.
The 2005 4-color process guide is available for purchase now and is priced at $99. "PANTONE Essentials" can be purchased for $299.
