New collating/booklet-making system produces up to 10,000 collated sets and 5,000 booklets per hour.
Duplo USA unveiled its System 5000, a new booklet-making and collating
system capable of producing up to 10,000 collated sets and 5,000 booklets per
hour.
The UP3i-standard system is optimized
for both digital and offset markets in that its set accumulation system can
accept traditional set-by-set output as well as the sheet-by-sheet output of the
digital market. This means organizations no longer need two separate solutions,
Duplo said.
Another
UP3i-compatible feature is the system’s support for varying sheet quantities.
This allows the System 5000 to switch within a single job run from a two-sheet
set, for example, to a 20-sheet set and back to two again, without operator
intervention.
The system
also has a center-referenced paper transport system that provides for fully automated sheet
transport. This lets the machine support the entire range from minimum to
maximum sheet sizes without any manual operator intervention, Duplo
said.
The System
5000 features a redesigned fold unit that Duplo says provides a flatter, crisper
fold, thus making booklets easier to manage when being fed into envelope
inserting machines for direct mail applications. The machine also addresses
booklet variation in that it offers a job interruption feature that diverts
corner or side-stitched jobs to a separate catch-tray, while other jobs continue
to pass through the trimmer onto the belt-stacker for collection.
The System
5000 is currently available. For more information, contact Duplo.
