EFI Designer Edition 4.0 eases the process of creating color-consistent contract proofs.
EFI announced that its proofing
software will be available as an option on HP Designjet 30 and Designjet 130
printers beginning June 1.
The software, called EFI Designer
Edition for HP 4.0, works on both Windows and Mac OS X platforms. In combination
with the printers, the software lets users produce consistent, accurate proofs
for traditional offset presses without the need for manual intervention in the
original source files, the company said.
"By combining EFI's technical expertise
in the digital proofing market with HP's professional range of desktop inkjet
printers, we are offering our customers the ability to generate high-quality
accurate proofs with assured color consistency," said Ana Izquierdo, marketing
manager with the Imaging and Printing Group at HP. "EFI has successfully
integrated new color technologies into their products in order to provide our
customers with accurate and consistent colors, a radically simple printing
experience and outstanding output."
The software, which includes an Adobe
PostScript 3 engine (Adobe CPSI), offers PDF/X support, a nesting function, and
selectable RIP resolutions. The new Adobe CPSI Interpreter supports in-RIP
separation, overprinting, and handling of 2-byte fonts via a font-download
facility. It also integrates special colors defined in Lab or CMYK and is
compatible with market standards such as Pantone, HKS and Toyo. The combined
offering has been SWOP-certified, EFI said.
The software will be available as an
option for the HP Designjet 30 and HP Designjet 130 series printers June 1. For
