A new utility from Comm-Unity Networking Systems enables users to manipulate images within FileMaker.Comm-Unity Networking Systems has released CNS Image 1.0 FileMaker, a plug-in that enables image editing and manipulation within FileMaker 7.x and above for Macintosh.
"What our plug-in does is give users the image management capability to do things like rotate, crop, flip, reflect or apply tint to an image within FileMaker, without having to extract the image to apply the changes," said Daniel Sims, director of technical support for the Fort Worth, Texas-based company.
CNS Image 1.0 saves time in image processing because no image exportation is necessary, Sims said. User can also customize their image editing profile to fit the image specifications for their respective needs. This function is useful for catalogs or product database-driven publishers.
In addition, Sims said, the utility significantly reduces long-term storage of images because of CNS Image's sizing-reduction ability. The plug-in also has an extraction feature that extracts layers of an image and saves them as new images.
The plug-in is available at the company's Web site. A Windows version will be released later this year.
Licensing costs for the utility are $65.00 for one user. A 5-user license is $228.00, and a site license runs $1093.00.
