PM5 Publish Plus is a color management solution for CMYK-based multicolor printing that aims to help print pros better achieve accurate, expedient and integrated color reproduction.

GretagMacbeth has released PM5 Publish Plus, its color management solution for CMYK-based multicolor printing, to help print pros better achieve accurate, expedient and integrated color reproduction.

Addressing what the company termed "the two biggest hurdles in CMYK+N workflows," this release focuses on the separation process and soft/hard proofing requirements in multicolor printing jobs, and it enables the use of Photoshop plug-ins to tackle any color reproduction issues.

Users create a unique CMYK+N profile in PM5 Publish Plus, then edit and soft-proof any images in Photoshop, and with one step, create a multicolor separation and output the image using the PM5 MultiColor Plug-ins for Adobe Photoshop, said company officials.

"The new PM5 Publish Plus solution is perfect for CMYK-based multicolor printing, including high-end, large-format printing, textile digital printing and digital printing for print, textile and packaging," said Iris Mangelschots, vice president and general manager of digital imaging at GretagMacbeth. GretagMacbeth is part of Amazys Holding AG in Regendorf, Switzerland.

PM5 Publish Plus includes a monitor module; a scanner module; RGB and Hexachrome output; CMYK multicolor profiling; a ProfileEditor for fine-tuning lightness, contrast, saturation, white point and gradation curves; a MeasureTool for color data analysis; and a ColorPicker for ease of spot color conversion, and PM5 MultiColor Plug-ins for Adobe Photoshop, according to the company's Web site.

The application comes as a stand-alone product or bundled with GretagMacbeth color measurement instruments. PM5 Publish Plus software is available through GretagMacbeth's distribution network, and PM5 MultiColor Plug-ins for Adobe Photoshop are available as a free download from the company's site.
