ShareStream gets improved workflow and performance, among other features.
RR Donnelley announced that it has
enhanced its ShareStream soft-proofing system with better workflow, performance
and paper simulations.
ShareStream, which is SWOP-certified
for color fidelity, lets print customers view and collaborate on content, color
and image retouching all via software. The tool now lets users build customized
workflows for automatically routing, commenting and approving proofs, the
company said.
"Our customers told us that what was
missing from most available soft-proofing solutions was the workflow component,"
explained Mary Lee Schneider, president of RR Donnelley Premedia Technologies
Solutions. "Now the benefits of color-accurate soft-proofing can be combined
with customized routing management tools to bring the benefits of this efficient
new workflow option even farther upstream into our customers' work
cycle."
ShareStream’s electronic routing
organizes team members into groups with appropriate rights to approve or comment
on pages at different stages in the process. Each team member is notified by
e-mail when an asset is ready for approval or review. Then, they simply visit
their ShareStream online proofing inbox to check those assets. The software
keeps a history log of all changes as well.
The new version also supports more
paper simulations, enabling users to see more accurately what their project will
look like on-press under a wider variety of conditions, the company said. The
software also has been tweaked to improve the rendering speed of complex
documents.
