iView adds Adobe DNG spec support

Flagship iView MediaPro now works with the Adobe archival format for RAW images.

iView announced that it has added support for Adobe?s Digital Negative Specification (DNG) to its iView MediaPro digital asset management software.

The support is currently available in Version 2.6.2 of MediaPro and is available as a free download to current users of the program. Adobe?s DNG spec, announced in September, is designed to make it easier to work with RAW formats from different digital cameras. iView says that MediaPro?s new DNG support, combined with its ability to import XMP and IPTC annotations, enables users to work with a wide variety of metadata.

?iView shares our view of promoting interoperability and forward-looking compatibility between file formats," said Kevin Connor, director of product management for professional digital imaging products at Adobe. "We developed DNG to address a real problem that our customers are facing and our hope is that companies will join us in ensuring photographers will be able to access their raw files in the future with an open standard supported by individual camera models."
