BuildMyMobi creates sites for mobile devices quickly and on the cheap for small businesses.Network Solutions, the internet hosting and domain name service provider, has unveiled a new tool for businesses to rapidly develop and deploy Web sites intended for mobile device users in the .mobi top level domain (TLD).
The site creator, called BuildMyMobi, is designed to allow small businesses to rapidly deploy a site for mobile phone users. A web-based wizard guides the would-be site owner through the selection of one of 24 design options. The tool also includes a scoring report that shows how well the finished site complies with .mobi design guidelines, and shows how the site will look from a mobile device.
In a prepared statement, a Network Solutions spokesperson claimed that studies now show that 50 percent of mobile phones in the US have Internet access. Jeff Grosman, SVP of Product Marketing and Management with Network Solutions, said, "The mobile phenomenon is important to businesses because a mobile device is important to customers, it's always on, always carried, and very personal. People can access information when they want it and from wherever they are, across the street or around the globe."
The BuildMyMobi service is available for $20 a year, including Web hosting. The tool only creates static sites with graphics and text, however; customers can add or delete pages once the site is launched and modify the design through the BuildMyMobi wizard.
