The work force is fast becoming a mobile one, accessing data, applications, e-mail and schedules officially and unofficially for work and personal uses. Here's a look at the numbers behind the trend as users add mobile devices and applications to their tool belt.

Who’s Using What?

Information workers: Sales, IT, managers and others use information applications to deliver real-time data as well as the plethora of e-mail, calendar and portal access applications.

(multiple devices, limited control for IT)

Task workers: Supply chain personnel, medical personnel, manufacturers and others use line-of-business applications on a single device such as inventory scanners and data entry tablets.

(single devices, significant IT control)

Wannabes: The rest of us. We use multiple devices to access e-mail, calendar and PIM (product information management). Basic portal access both officially and unofficially for work and personal uses.
