DAZ 3D has released a new version of its DAZ Studio, allowing creative professionals to use 3D content in Adobe Photoshop CS3. DAZ Productions Inc. announced April 10 that it has released its DAZ Studio 1.5, a new version of its DAZ Studio that enables users to utilize 3D content in Adobe Photoshop CS3. Photoshop CS3 provides users with an image-editing toolset that enables users to edit, paint and clone over several video frames while also enabling users to integrate 3D content into their 2D works.
DAZ Studio, designed for Mac and PC users, is a 3D figure-posing and animation tool that allows users to create images using virtual subjects such as people, animals and buildings and use those objects to design digital art and animation. The animation software also features Open GL display styles, which enables users to view transparency maps and image-based textures that help users rotate, pan and morph their subjects and scene.
This animation software features 3Delight's Render Engine, enabling users to utilize reflections, refractions, adjustable displacement and bump settings to create cinematic qualities using a combination of ray-tracing and scan-line rendering.
The animation software also includes content management tools that allow creative professionals to add, remove, copy and paste content from one folder to another while also enabling users to import and export files.
Studio also features several display options, enabling users to add background images, cameras, point, spot and distant lights, and audio to their animations.
With DAZ Studio 1.5, which includes all the features of the original version, users are provided with a U3D content explorer that enables creative professionals to ready content for use with Photoshop CS3, which integrates 3D models and enables users to develop an animation from a series of images and use it in various formats such as QuickTime, MPEG-4 and Adobe Flash Video.
"Artists love having the ability to easily load and manipulate 3D assets directly within their favorite 2D art tools," Chris Creek, executive vice president of the Draper, Utah, DAZ Productions Inc., said in a statement.
Adobe has immersed itself in the 3D market with DAZ's latest animation software while also sporting some of their own 3D software such as Acrobat 3D, which enables users to insert and publish 3D designs from CAD (computer-aided design) applications in Adobe PDF documents.
"By combining the extensive catalog of 3D assets at DAZ 3D with the power of PhotoShop CS3 Extended, artists will experience amazing creative freedom," Russell Brown, senior creative director at the San Jose, Calif., Adobe Systems Inc., said in a separate company statement.
DAZ Studio 1.5 is available now as a free download. However, in order to get this software, users have to register at the DAZ Web site.
