Also being highlighted at the show are products that enable users to generate their own content, and ones that improve the browsing and searching experiences.

From a hosted RSS solution for media companies to an appliance that tracks data logs for regulatory compliance, IT managers can expect a range of new technologies and products aimed at the enterprise to be introduced this week at the Demo conference in Phoenix.

Products being launched at the semiannual conference will focus on optimizing networks and on fraud prevention applications that battle phishing, adware and spyware. Technologies that enable users to generate their own content, and that improve the browsing and searching experiences, will also be highlighted at the show.

"The market is emerging from a long nap. While some were sleeping, others were working to establish a market position, and now they are ready to claim what they have earned. … I suspect we're in for a velocity change, spurred on by Web 2.0," said Chris Shipley, executive producer of the Demo conference, in a statement.

Sixty-nine companies will debut their products at Demo over the three-day conference in hopes of becoming the next big thing. In the past, the conference has served as the launch pad for companies such as Palm, Tivo, Salesforce.com and ETrade. This year, 65 of the demonstrators are early-stage companies introducing their first or second products.

Attendees can expect products designed to give individuals more control over the ways in which they access, manage and use content. NewsGator Technologies, for example, will launch NewsGator Hosted Solution. Aimed at content providers, NewsGator Hosted Solution is a service that allows companies to put an RSS aggregator onto their Web sites and provide customized content from all over the Web to their users. Publishers who use the RSS aggregation service also have the option of allowing users to personalize the feeds they look at.

"The world has changed a lot in the last few years, and you no longer have to go to the original content originator to get content. RSS has made that process so much easier," said Todd Berkowitz, director of product marketing at NewsGator. "Companies like newspapers want to take their own content and mix it with content across the blogosphere so that their users get the mix of news they want."

For enterprises who require 24/7 uptime, Avokia will launch apLive, database software that allows a business to eliminate single-point-of-failure issues. By virtualizing the database layer, apLive clusters, replicates and load balances any number of identical and fully redundant databases in a local group or spread out in different data centers.

With a new spin on remote control, NetworkStreaming will take to the stage to demonstrate the SupportCenter 9.0 appliance. SupportCenter allows enterprises to remotely troubleshoot a customer's computer and lower support costs at the same time. Remote control capabilities include a feature that allows support techs to restart a computer without requiring the presence of a customer after obtaining specific permissions.

IT managers who handle compliance issues may want to keep an eye out for LogLogic. The company will launch LogLogic 3 r2 as well as the Compliance Suite for LogLogic 3 r2. LogLogic, an appliance-based solution, will enable IT managers to track and view Microsoft Exchange log activity to identify security risks and to keep a forensic record of e-mail. The Compliance Suite targets enterprises that need to aggregate, analyze, report on and archive enterprise log data from applications such as ERP (enterprise resource planning) and mail systems for regulatory compliance.

While not an enterprise product—yet—Sharpcast's Sharpcast Photos application will allow users to synchronize their photo collections so that all photos are up-to-date regardless of whether they're being viewed on the desktop, a mobile phone or using a Web browser. The synchronization is immediate so that photos organized on the desktop are immediately available in the same order on the Web and camera phone.
