Updated: The two companies have partnered up to create WinZip Courier, a file delivery service that allows businesses to send large files.

WinZip Computing and YouSendIt have formed a partnership to provide WinZip Courier, a new file delivery service for business professionals that allows users to send large files, the companies announced April 3.

"Today, more and more people are creating digital content that they need to share with others, making large files the norm," Edwin Siebesma, president of WinZip, based in Mansfield, Conn., said in a statement.

WinZip Courier comes in two versions, WinZip Courier Lite and WinZip Courier Business Plus. WinZip Courier Lite, a free, ad-supported product, allows users to transfer files of up to 100MB in size with a bandwidth limit of 1GB.

WinZip Business Plus allows business professionals to exchange large zip files electronically, upload large files and track their sent files for up to 30 days. It also features a branding option, which enables users to access settings to customize notification e-mails to clients and to upload company logos for clients to see on downloaded pages and e-mails.

WinZip Business Plus provides files transfers of up to a maximum size of 2GB with a 40GB bandwidth and includes a business dropbox, which allows users' customers to upload files that the company can retrieve. Business Plus also offers password protection and allows users to track downloads to see who has and has not accessed their files, as files remain available for 14 days.

"The ability to track all files allows business users to focus on critical issues and gain back valuable time," Ivan Koon, CEO of YouSendIt, based in Mountain View, Calif., said in a separate statement.

Both WinZip Courier versions are available now. WinZip Courier Lite is a free product that is ad-supported, while the WinZip Courier Business Plus version is priced at $29.99 per month.
