Two vendors announce new tools for image editing, while Dynamic Vantage aims to get more photographers blogging and Imagenomic targets noise reduction.

Corel Updates Painter IX

This week, Ottawa-based Corel Corp. announced its Painter IX 9.1 updates, including dual-monitor support for Windows and support for 3-D animation artists and game developers working with TGA files.

Corel also announced the addition of five new art pen brushes for the Wacom 6D Art Pen, and said that customers who download the free update will receive 10 brushes in total, five of which were released in the Corel Painter IX Art Pen Brush Pack earlier this spring.

The update enhances support for Mac OS X Tiger users and augments Corel's Painter IX Spotlight plug-in to give users advanced searching capabilities for their Painter files, according to the release.

Dynamic Vantage Releases Photo-blogging Software Update

Dynamic Vantage Inc. has updated its Expressions photo-blogging service with the ability to tag photos for sharing and browsing images more easily and an improved text editor.

Expressions 3.0 is an image-blogging solution that allows professional photographers and camera enthusiasts to upload and share images in user galleries, as well as archive those images.

Users can take advantage of the image-editing tools and crop, edit, add borders and resize images prior to posting on the photo blog here.

Dynamic Vantage, of Somerville, Mass., offers a 30-day free trial; following the trial users will be charged $3 monthly for the service. Users can also sign up for a $29.95 yearly subscription.

Script Software Announces Beta Release of Watermarking Tool for Mac OS X

Script Software Inc. has announced iWatermark 3.0b1, the beta release of its watermarking tool for use with photos, digital images and artwork.

iWatermark 3.0b1 comes with a new Watermark Editor, an improved help system and the ability to batch insert IPTC data into images.

This release also features an improved Watch Input folder function, which will watch an unlimited amount of folders and process any images appended to them, according to the release.

Imagenomic Aims to Reduce Noise with Updated Plug-in

Imagenomic has released Noiseware Professional Plug-in 3.4, its software tool for digital image noise reduction, with boosted memory capabilities in batch mode and minor bug fixes.

The plug-in is available for Windows 98SE/Me/2000/XP and Mac OS X 10.2.x/10.3.x users and can be used for 8-bit and 16-bit images.

Noiseware Professional Plug-in 3.4 supports Photoshop action and is compatible with Adobe Photoshop 7.0 and CS, and Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0 and 3.0.

The shareware is priced at $69 and can be purchased directly from the company's Web site.
