In an effort to serve the global need for heightened security, the new ID-Star CSR is designed for use at border checkpoints, consulates, hotels and other travel destinations.
Oce Document Technologies, a subsidiary
of Netherlands-headquartered document management IT supplier, Oce, recently
introduced an enhanced version of its Identification Card and Document Reader,
ID-Star2.
In an effort to serve the global need
for heightened security, the new ID-Star CSR (Color Security Reader) is designed
for use at border checkpoints, consulates, hotels and other travel destinations.
It scans passport, ID card, driver's license and Visa data by producing a
high-resolution color image of the document and then identifies relevant
information in accordance with UN standards. Software integrated with the
ID-Star system conducts security checks on entire documents, enabling all
textual data to be extracted, read and checked.
The software identifies
2D-barcodes and digital watermarks, automatically checks coding digits, and
recognizes 3M security lamination and ultraviolet fluorescent security marks.
ID-Star CSR can be installed in police and border guards' mobile units for
identification checks and to avoid information input errors.
The ID-Star system is currently in use
at Istanbul Airport and in Lithuania. According to Oce, 200 ID-Star units are
installed in embassies throughout the world.
