Firm adds JDF Consultancy program to its services portfolio.
Agfa announced that it is offering a
JDF Consultancy service aimed at helping commercial printers navigate the JDF
waters.
Agfa says the service will provide
experts to analyze a printing company’s business and production processes and
make practical recommendations for how to improve on them using JDF.
The analysis portion of the service
looks at how many and which people are in contact with the printer's client or
the print buyer for any one project, and outlines how the printer's internal and
external communications processes can be optimized.
Then it offers a detailed report,
listing problems and goals, such as shortening approval and proofing cycles,
avoiding duplication of cost, achieving faster project turnaround or reducing
overhead cost. The report also offers advice on how to streamline production,
reduce cost and generate additional revenue.
"We believe that printers are looking
to Agfa to help them understand JDF and what it can do for them," said Jan
Vangeel, Agfa's director of global services. "While e-mail marketing, the
Internet and other new media have impacted and changed the marketing mix
forever, we are convinced that print will remain a communications media of
choice. To compete with new media, however, print needs to show how fast and
cost-effective it can be and our new service helps printing companies streamline
their operations so they can get ahead of the competition."
The service will launch simultaneously
with the Drupa show, scheduled for May 6 to 19 in Dusseldorf,
Germany.
