Suite of tools lessens color discrepancy between monitor and final printout.

Datacolor Inc. has announced ColorVision Spyder2 Plus, an all-in-one digital package for on-screen and final output color accuracy.

The Pantone ColorVision product, which made its debut at Sneak Peek, a press event for the photo industry's International PMA trade show taking place Feb. 20 through 23 in Orlando, Fla., provides a full suite of tools for digital and media artists working with digital images who are frustrated by color discrepancy between the monitor image and final printout.

With the ColorVision Spyder2 Plus suite, also called "The Digital Darkroom in a Box," Lawrenceville, N.J.-based Datacolor combines ColorVision's color display and output technology, Spyder2 Plus, with Adobe Systems Inc.'s latest digital imaging software, Photoshop Elements 3.0.

According to the announcement, the Spyder2 Plus also includes the following:

  • The new ColorVision Spyder2 calibrator, a color sensor that delivers precise color correction for CRT, LCD and laptop displays. It comes with Spyder2 color monitor calibration software.

  • ColorVision ProfilerPlus, an industry-standard printer utility that employs an existing scanner to profile the printer, and helps improve ink-jet and color laser prints. This plug-in operates within Adobe's Elements or other color management-compatible software and is useful for users or plan-to-be users of third-party papers or ink sets. (A $75 coupon is included to upgrade to the more advanced ColorVision PrintFix or ColorVision SpectroPro2 profiling products.)

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0 software that keeps track of photos from multiple devices: cameras, hard disks, CDs, DVDs and scanners.

  • Pantone's colorist, which gives users easy access to Pantone Matching System Colors.

The pricing for the package according to the company's Web site is $269.00; the product is available for shipping now.
