Direct marketers get PDF boost with variable data printing solution

Adobe, Xerox, and XMPie collaborate on system making personalization of PDFs simpler via InDesign.

At the Chicago GraphExpo show, software vendor XMPie unveiled its uDirect application, which can create variable data print jobs in Adobe InDesign CS , enabling creative professionals to personalize marketing pieces to individuals. uDirect can output to PDF, and it also has hooks into Xerox printers; Adobe posted information on how the three companies have partnered and how their products work together at  www.adobe.com/vdp , where a downloadable 60-day trial version resides as well.

 

"Truly effective printed communication is personalized, with content and visuals meaningful to the individual it is delivered to," says Jim Heeger senior vice president of Creative Professional Products at Adobe. "Using Adobe Creative Suite and XMPie's uDirect solution together, creative professionals have an easy-to-use, fluid VDP solution to develop campaigns that deliver results, using tools that are already part of their daily workflow."
