The bizhub C450 features the new bizhub OP Open Platform, which includes the bizhub Architecture, Emperon Print System and the bizhub Open API.

Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A. Inc. has released the bizhub C450, featuring the new bizhub OP Open Platform that the company says will set the standard for all future Konica Minolta multifunction printers.

"The current market situation is calling for more feature-rich and cost-effective color MFP products," said Kevin P. Kerr, vice president of product planning and development for Ramsey, N.J.-based Konica Minolta.

The bizhub OP open platform includes the bizhub Architecture, Emperon Print System and the bizhub Open API. The third component of the platform, the bizhub Open API, will enable control of both the print and scan functions from external applications, and will be available at the end of 2005, according to the company.

The internal hard drive is 40GB and the duty cycle is up to 125,000 pages per month.

The bizhub C450 can scan up to 38 pages per minutes in color and 45 pages per minute in black and white.

Other features include:

512MB standard memory

HDD overwrite, job erase and user authentication

Multiple advanced finishing options

Network scanning, including scan to mailbox, FTP, URL, HDD, TWAIN and SMB

The C450 is priced at about $17,500 and will be sold through all channels worldwide, including through resellers.
