Sappi Fine Paper offers these 6 items to check before making your final paper decision.
In Sappi Fine Paper’s Idea Exchange,
the company offers a variety of paper-based tips and tricks for ensuring the
paper you choose will support your designs in the most efficient, yet
aesthetically pleasing way possible. The company advises its customers to test
each paper choice against these six guidelines – prior to making a print
decision:
Brightness: Check the paper’s ability to reflect a
volume of light.
Whiteness:
Check its ability to reflect all colors of light
equally.
Holdout:
Check its ability to uniformly hold ink on its surface. Higher holdout means a
sharper dot and increased ink gloss, Sappi says.
Opacity:
Check the paper’s ability to hold an image without its showing through to the
other side of the sheet.
Smoothness: Check the evenness and consistency of
the surface.
Finish:
Check the appropriateness of the paper's finish to the
desired end result. For example, a gloss finish offers the ultimate in
reproduction detail, while dull and matte finishes offer easier reading for
large quantities of text, the company says.
