Komodo 2.5 broadens platform support for open source language IDE.
ActiveState said its Komodo integrated developer's environment (IDE),
aimed at programmers working with open source languages such as Perl, PHP,
Python, Tcl and XSLT, now runs on Sun Solaris.
Like the previous version, Version 2.5 of the Komodo IDE lets developers
edit, debug and test applications. In addition to Linux and Windows, however, it
now runs supports Solaris 2.6.
Other new features in this release include an HTML preview for
side-by-side viewing and automatic updating, templates that use the same syntax
as snippets and run commands, and a font customization dialog that permits
'schemes' to be saved. It also offers a language-aware editor with features such
as background syntax-checking and autocompletion; a debugger; source code
control integration; CGI emulation; templates; and a visual user interface (UI)
builder.
Komodo for Solaris is covered under the existing Komodo license, which
allows individual programmers to install Komodo on any system or platform for
their use, at no additional cost. New licenses for Komodo 2.5 Professional
Edition, featuring source code control, Visual Package Manager, and ActiveState
GUI Builder for commercial use, cost $295. Upgrades are free for users of
Version 2.X, and $99.95 for users of Version 1.X.
