Inexpensive setup is aimed at serving small, impromptu conferences.
Avistar Communications Corp. last week released a series of
videoconferencing wares that it claims can be set up by end users, without the
need for renting large rooms or hiring technicians.
“Traditional conference rooms are typically big meeting places equipped
with video endpoints that require both a technician to operate and advance
scheduling for use,” explained Jerry Burnett, CEO of Avistar. “The Avistar
Self-Service Room Suite is an inexpensive video solution designed to increase
the utility of videoconferencing.”
The suite comes in three sizes: small, medium and large. The smallest
version, designed for between one and five users, is called the Avistar
Workspace. It can be set up in any small room or cubicle, the company said. The
medium version is called Avistar Team Room and is designed for larger rooms and
up to eight people. The large version is called Avistar Board Room and is
designed for up to nine people at a time.
All models within the Avistar Self-Service Room Suite come with the
company’s AvistarVOS video networking software, which delivers reliable,
TV-quality video, the company said. The products also include several
collaboration applications, such as interactive video calling, recording and
publishing, live document sharing, and broadcasting.
Available now, pricing for the suite starts at $1,500 for the Workspace
version.
