Babel Company has released Impression 2.8, an update to its digital archiving utility for Mac OS X that offers compatibility with the new Mac OS 10.4, aka Tiger, and enhanced archiving options.

"The new features that will have the most impact are the ability to burn multiple copies of each archive disc and the cross-platform burning capabilities. Photographers and DAM engineers have been requesting both of these features for workflow convenience and compatibility with non-Mac clients," Babel Company founder Steven Babel said.

The Impression 2.8 release from Portland, Ore.-based Babel Company now includes automatic archiving of Spotlight metadata, cross-platform HFS+/ISO9660/Joliet disc burning, and support for burning multiple copies of each archive disc.

Impression 2.8 also offers a bookmark-based management feature that allows for intuitive backup management for users who regularly archive assets from several different locations. With the system, any previous backup session can be instantly recalled and backups can be run incrementally to choose only modified files from those sets if desired.

Impression 2.8 is priced at $50 and is available now at the Babel's Web site. The company is offering a $20 discount through May 1.
