CSMi’s contract includes a redesign of FTA’s public Web site and new online tools for employees
Computer Systems Management Inc. (CSMi) was selected as the e-government
contractor for the Department of Transportation&singlequot;s Federal Transit Administration
(FTA). The FTA fosters the introduction of new safety, accessibility and
technological advancements for all forms of mass transit nationwide.
The first phase of CSMi&singlequot;s efforts, valued at approximately $177K, focuses
on a complete redesign of the existing FTA Web site (http://www.fta.dot.gov)
which will establish an organized framework for the content, define content
management procedures and policies, as well as build the foundation for
providing e-government services. Future phases will focus on integrating
existing FTA&singlequot;s enterprise systems and implementing e-government functionality to
assist FTA in better serving its customers.
"This contract extends our experience in implementing large-scale content
management and e-government enabled websites in federal agencies," said Shankar
Pillai, President and CEO of CSMi. "We feel proud to build on our work with the
Securities and Exchange Commission and the District of Columbia Water and Sewer
Authority by this new relationship with the Federal Transit
Administration."
CSMi will not only focus on the technology solution for this project, but
will also work in partnership with FTA to examine the quality, appropriateness
and organization of the current content. Furthermore, the business processes for
publishing content on the site will be redefined in order to train personnel to
ensure ongoing updated information is published to the site after the launch.
Additionally, CSMi will examine the tools available to address stakeholder needs
and FTA&singlequot;s back-end systems requirements to determine the best approach to
securely providing extended information and functionality to specific audience
types. New functionality could include knowledge management systems for grantee
and research communities, enhanced reporting systems for grantees, and increased
outreach tools for FTA to deliver targeted information to specific audience
types.
