New tool, called Goby Capture, makes categorizing and routing documents simpler.
DocuLex announced a new document management tool that uses 2-dimensional
barcoding to ease document profile capture and content indexing.
Called Goby Capture, the tool uses 2-D barcodes to enable documents to be
profiled and cataloged prior to scanning. It lets users add user-defined content
and indexing criteria themselves into the 2-D barcodes, and it includes the
ability to select previously entered values, save, delete and recall field
property forms, merge print field data, and add caption fields and date-and-time
designations.
Doculex says Goby Capture is easy to use. Users type in a document
profile and then print the profile with their local desktop laser printer or
MFP. Then, they scan the document along with the printed profile sheet, which
looks much like a fax cover page.
Once scanned, the document goes into the Goby Capture Monitor, which
recognizes the 2-D barcode on the sheet, fully indexes the accompanied document,
names the file and forwards a fully searchable PDF file to the user-defined
destination. Doculex said that destination may be one or many locations,
including FTP address, e-mail, printer, network, local folder and the user’s
desktop. The company said the tool works seamlessly with most document
management systems, including its own DocuLex
WebSearch.
