The subscription offering, which uses precoded content modules, aims to give users a full content-management system at a fraction of the price.

Intellogy Software has announced the launch of the gee! Web Tools content management suite, bringing the power of content management to graphic design agencies and Web site design professionals in a new, module-based subscription offering.

The gee! Web Tools automate the process of generating and publishing Web content to Web sites through the use of precoded content modules.

"Our target is graphic design and marketing agencies that want to give their clients the ability to update content without compromising the design aspect of the Web site. We also replace the need to have a database programmer on staff," said Robert Rhodes, CEO of Intellogy Software, a Greensboro, N.C.-based division of Gate City Technologies LLC.

Intellogy Software has about a 150 current monthly subscribers, and the gee! Web tools site has been up for three months, Rhodes said.

For Steve Vest, director of interactive services at Winston-Salem, N.C.-based PAVE Creative Group LLC, the modules allow him to deliver content management functionality to clients without overwhelming their budgetary constraints.

"This is how I get clients into a content management system when they don't have the financial ability or even the need to invest into a full-on content management system. For instance, I have clients that just need a calendar on their Web site," Vest said.

"If I were building a page for a calendar, I create a space for that calendar within the Web page, I put the line of code right there, and when the page is pulled up, the calendar shows up. The neat thing is that I can design the page any way I want. I'm not restricted to any specific design, and I drop the code wherever I want. It brings a lot of flexibility to the Web design process," he said.

Intellogy Software now offers 25 gee! Web Tools. The module pricing ranges from $9.95 to $19.95, and they are available in four bundle packages that range from $49.95 for a basic bundle to $149.95 for the elite bundle, which includes all 25 tools.

The basic bundle includes a Calendar Manager, Company Directory, FAQ Manager, Inquiry & Response Generator, Links Manager, News Editor, Page Editor, Services Manager and Document Manager.

The only offering lacking in the current bundle offerings, in Vest's estimation, is a staging or preview process module.

"There isn't a way right now to preview content additions before they go live. If there were a way for an approval-process addition to the module functionality, I think it would open up these tools to a much larger client base," Vest said.

According to Rhodes, that module is not far behind.

"We're about to release a module survey tool for Web sites and we just released our events calendar module. Now our focus lies in delivering review/staging process module capability to our users by the fourth quarter of this year," he said.
