International Truck & Engine’s Product Change Management System wins recognition from Association for Information and Image Management.
International Truck & Engine received gold award for its Product
Change Management business process in the Global Excellence Awards 2003, North
American Region.
Background
Action Technologies’ customer International Truck
& Engine took Gold for its Product Change Management business process in the
Global Excellence Awards 2003, North American Region. Winners were announced at
the AIIM 2003 Exposition and Conference held in New York. The awards are
co-sponsored by Giga Information Group, The Workflow Management Coalition (WfMC)
and Workflow And Reengineering International Association
(WARIA).
International’s Product Change Management process, managed by the
company’s Product Change Management System (PCMS), is the key business process
by which International innovates new designs, ensuring that its offerings are
constantly “new.” International’s outstanding financial results have resulted in
acknowledgment of these changes as “unprecedented in the trucking
industry.”
Results
PCMS traverses a large number of functional areas, involves
thousands of people and generates more than 10,000 change orders a year,
involving more than 100,000 product elements. But more importantly, PCMS has
resulted in a ROI of 362% and paid for itself in three months. Productivity
increased by 30% and cycle time was reduced by 75%. Moreover, defects, as
measured by rework, declined by 33%. All of this occurred in a development
effort that reduced costs by 50-70% and a training effort that produced a 50%
cost reduction for PCMS versus other infrastructure
introductions.
