Internet access provider customers include 65,000 consumers.
E-mail defense solutions provider MX Logic has been picked by Internet
Initiative Japan, one of Japan's leading Internet-access and Internet solutions
providers, to deploy the MX Logic Email Defense Gateway--Service Provider
Edition as e-mail defense for its extensive customer base. IIJ's customers
include over 65,000 consumers and more than 6,000 corporations, representing
major financial companies and government organizations in Japan.
According to IIJ's recent survey of corporate users and their experiences
with spam, more than 80 percent of respondents have suffered economic losses due
to spam, and more than 90 percent desire a server-level anti-spam
function.
The company said IIJ has already added MX Logic E-mail Defense Gateway
spam protection to its secure corporate e-mail outsourcing services -- IIJ Mail
Gateway Service, a gateway-based e-mail auditing and virus detection and
elimination service, and the IIJ Post Office Service, which enables e-mail usage
with a unique domain name and account management without having to operate and
maintain a mail server.
And this week it will offer that same spam protection to its consumer
service, IIJ4U, using the MX Logic E-mail Defense Gateway. This new feature will
be provided free of charge to customers using IIJ's optional virus protection
service, which detects and deletes viruses.
"With the MX Logic Email Defense Gateway solution, IIJ can offer the
email protection that our customers need, at a price they can afford, while
providing us greater control by enabling us to manage the software on premise at
our Tokyo data center," said Toshiya Asaba, executive vice president, IIJ.
In June, MX Logic announced its partnership with IIJ America Inc., which
is co-branding and selling the MX Logic Email Defense Service to Japanese
multi-national corporations in North America as part of its overall Internet
service solution suite.
MX Logic plans to continue its push globally and John Street, MX Logic
chairman and CEO said at the time of the partnership, "We are also excited about
our partnership with IIJ because it opens new markets in Japan and all of Asia.
With the international capabilities of our platform, MX Logic is poised for
further growth into other global markets.”
