MBUSA uses streaming media technology to conduct an e-Learning and online certification program, the STARMARK program, for over 5,000 dealership technicians nationwide to train technicians on all current and past Mercedes-Benz vehicles -- from diagnostics and disassembly procedures to general maintenance and repairs. 

The online program, complete with coursework, full product documentation and video demonstrations, supplements in-person training, and can be completed on the technician’s time-line, including evening and weekends, so as not to impact service during dealership hours. Online training reduces the technicians&singlequot; travel costs and tine away from servicing vehicles, allowing dealerships to provide better service to customers. Another significant advantage: as a result of using streaming media to train their technicians, MBUSA estimates that the company and its dealer organization have substantially reduced its training and certification costs by more than $1.7 million in the first year alone.
