Salesforce.com announced it has teamed with wireless operator Nextel to let customers access Salesforce.com’s CRM applications via Nextel’s wireless all-digital nationwide network.

The new offering, called Salesforce.com Wireless Edition, is aimed at increasing the productivity of organizations’ mobile salesforces, the companies said. With the service, users can use Nextel's BlackBerry 6510 and 7510 handheld devices to retrieve and update account, contact and lead information, as well as obtain reports about events and tasks. Salesforce.com said the service also supports natural-language querying, which makes it easier to use.

“Mobile sales reps need access to their critical customer and deal information anytime, anywhere," said Marc Benioff, chairman and CEO of Salesforce.com. "The combination of Nextel's wireless service and mobile devices, with Salesforce.com's on-demand model turns this vision into reality."
