New service is designed to ease setup and access to Web meetings and other online collaborations.
Norlight Telecommunications announced a new Web meeting service that
requires no software preloads or downloads for participants.
The service, called the Guardian Meeting Center, is designed for
businesses that want an easy way to deploy Internet training, Web-based meetings
and other online collaborations, Norlight said.
The service consists of Web-based meeting room software that lets meeting
hosts share any application on their computer, including presentations. It also
lets hosts conduct polls, surveys and quizzes, ensuring that meeting agendas and
training topics are fully understood by all participants, the company
said.
To use the Guardian Meeting Center service, users access a virtual
"meeting room," where they can hold large or small meetings and share documents
between participants. The meeting room is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a
week, and the host's dial-in number never changes.
Hosts can invite participants via automated e-mails, which include all
instructions – such as dial-in number and specific URL -- for joining the
conference. For unplanned meetings, hosts can dial out to participants and set
up meetings on the fly. The service is completely Web-based and does not require
participants to download and install any software or plug-ins, Norlight said.
"One of the many advantages of Norlight's Guardian Meeting Center is the
ease-of-use for participants," said Mark Wojnowiak, Guardian Meeting Center
product manager. "It enables the host to quickly and easily set up a conference
with anyone who has a phone and Internet access. If a participant doesn't have
access to a computer, they can still participate in the meeting via an audio
conference."
