Outsourced content delivery network and streaming services accelerate download times viewers can enjoy world-class entertainment.

Online entertainment company AtomShockwave Corp. and Speedera Networks, a global content delivery services, announced an agreement in April 2003 to implement Speedera’s Content Delivery Network (CDN) services for the Shockwave.com and AtomFilms.com sites. Speedera’s Web content delivery and streaming services will power the delivery of games, films, graphics, and more, to the more than 17 million users who visit the sites every month. Speedera has deployed Microsoft’s Windows Media 9 Series, on the new Windows Server 2003, and is being used to improve scalability and delivery quality.

According to Scott Roesch, Vice President of Marketing at AtomShockwave, “Speed, reliability and a high-quality experience are keys to keeping our viewers tantalized and coming back for more. The ability of Speedera’s services to offload traffic from our own servers means that we can spend less time on infrastructure issues and more time on our core businesses.”

Roesch went on to explain that the use of Speedera’s content delivery services to offload high volume content from AtomShockwave’s own servers has not only enabled the company to provide a better user experience and spend more time on its core business, it’s also saved money by cutting the need to continually invest in new networking and server gear.

Speedera’s CDN is one of the largest content delivery networks in the world. The company was recognized in 2002 as “Best CDN” and “Up-and-Coming Streaming Company to Watch” by Streaming Magazine and received the 2002 Codie Award for “Best Internet Facilitation Product or Service” from the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA). In October 2002, Speedera was named to Forbes’ “Best of the Web” B2B Directory.
