New version includes in-context metadata engine.
Stellent Inc. has
upgraded its Universal Content Management system with what it is touting as the
enterprise content management industry's first in-context metadata
engine.
The metadata management tool allows users to view metadata fields in
context, so that at any time users only view those fields applicable to them.
For users this means that rather than controlling metadata fields only based on
document type, the metadata engine offers the ability to control metadata based
on user roles, document status and a variety of other applied
criteria.
"By providing customers with an efficient and automated method for
personalizing metadata fields, content management vendors can lessen the painful
administrative burden this process typically requires," said Andrew Warzecha,
senior vice president and director for Meta Group Inc.
The upgrade, Version 7.5, also features new e-mail management and digital
asset management capabilities, simplifying the use of images and videos. Version
7.5 can automatically convert single-source image files into different formats,
including GIF and TIF files. Similar conversion capabilities can be applied for
video files such as converting AVI files into smaller MPEG files for use on Web
sites. This latest version also provides the ability to pinpoint particular
scenes in a video using storyboards.
Stellent has also created a new desktop integration interface,
collaborative project dashboards, integrated imaging capabilities, and business
process management certification for PeopleSoft Inc. (now Oracle Corp.) and SAP
AG users. In addition, users will be able to personalize search results by
category and employ the use of a real-time search and retrieval
platform.
Stellent demonstrated its Universal Content Management 7.5 system at
Stellent Crescendo 2005 held this week in San Diego.
